About Me

Kathy Crawford is an award-winning freelance journalist, who has written for local magazines, daily and weekly newspapers, and websites such as Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong. She maintains a blog and is experienced at newspaper design and photography. Her photos have been published alongside her stories numerous times.

Her published articles include complex topics like spinal cord injuries, stem cell research, and “storm psychosis” in animals. Crawford also enjoys writing about human and animal disease, pharmaceuticals, and behavior, as well as the environment, politics, and exercise. She holds the rank of third degree black belt in karate.

Crawford earned a bachelor’s degree from Missouri Western State University in English/journalism in 2007 and continues to take graduate courses in convergent media emphasizing multi-media. She graduated magna cum laude, and the department faculty selected her as the Outstanding Graduate of her class. The Association of Health Care Journalists awarded Crawford a fellowship for 2009-2010.

She lives northwest of the greater Kansas City area with her husband, an electrician, and their three dogs.
